Ice Crusher: When Time Breaks the Ice
An idea born before the design
Ice Crusher wasn't born from a blank sheet of paper.
It was born from a specific feeling: that of having to break something to move forward .
When I started thinking about this watch, I knew one thing for sure: I didn't want a "just beautiful" model.
I wanted to give character to a watch that truly represented the breaking of the ice .
A clear gesture. A fracture. A point of no return.
Before the technique, before the materials, before the specifications… there was a clear idea in my head.
Give character: indexes and spheres different from the rest

Ice Crusher had to stand out right away.
It couldn't simply be a chromatic variation of something already seen.
Here's why I chose:
-
applied indexes , more three-dimensional, more present
-
different spheres than other NIMA models
I wanted the watch to have a more decisive, more “physical” readability.
That at first glance it conveyed solidity, strength, intention.
Ice Crusher is not soft.
It is not accommodating.
It's a watch that gets noticed without asking permission.
Mother of pearl: an ambitious (and complex) idea

The most difficult — and most important — choice was the dial.
I had a specific image in mind: Alpine ice , that of glaciers.
Not just any blue.
Not a flat white.
But that combination of light, depth and reflections that only real ice can have.
Hence the idea of using mother-of-pearl .
Mother of pearl is not a simple material.
It is alive, irregular, unpredictable.
And that's exactly why it was perfect.
The dial workmanship: nothing is standard
Each Ice Crusher dial starts from individually crafted white mother-of-pearl .
No two pieces are identical.
The real challenge was getting the blue shade on the outside , the one that recalls the ice of Alpine glaciers.
It is not a printed color.
It's not an industrial effect.
It is a hand-made process , delicate, slow, complex.
It doesn't take much to ruin everything.
Each quadrant requires attention, experience and patience.
And that's also why Ice Crusher was never intended as a mass-market product.
The “cracked ice” effect in luminescence

One of the ideas I cared most about was making the concept of “breaking ice” visible even in the dark.
This is where the cracked ice effect in luminescence comes from.
Not a simple application of light, but a design that recalls the fractures in the ice , which emerge when the light disappears.
This was my idea from the very beginning.
I wanted Ice Crusher to tell its story even at night, when everything is silent and you are alone with what you are facing.
The Difficulty of Mother-of-Pearl (and Why It's Worth It)
Working with mother-of-pearl means accepting limitations.
It means discarding pieces.
It means slowing down production.
It means giving up industrial perfection.
But it also means getting something unique .
Each Ice Crusher is slightly different from the next.
And for me this is not a weakness.
That's its value.
Because even the challenges we face are never the same.
They change shape, intensity, reflections.
But they all have one thing in common: they must be crossed.
Ice Crusher is Stage One
Ice Crusher represents Stage One .
The beginning.
The hardest moment.
The one where you don't have results yet, but you've already made the most important choice: don't stop .
It does not celebrate the arrival.
Celebrate the courage to break the ice.
And from there… everything can begin.
Why Ice Crusher is a Limited Edition

Ice Crusher is limited because:
-
Each mother-of-pearl dial is unique and unrepeatable
-
the external blue shade is not standardizable
-
the cracked ice effect requires dedicated processing
-
quality control rejects more pieces than it would like to produce
In other words: it is not a clock that can be sped up .
And a project born to represent the hardest phase of the journey could only respect this logic.
The meaning of the limited edition
Owning an Ice Crusher means wearing a precise moment in NIMA's history .
The first impact.
The breakup.
The beginning.
It will not be repeated identically.
It will not be trivialized.
It won't be inflated.
Ice Crusher stays connected to who was there at the beginning.
To those who believed in the project when everything was still unbuilt.
